Absinthe Drip anyone?

I've never had the infamous Absinthe Drip, but it does look enticing.

Who wants to go in on a bottle of Absinthe with me?

By the way, it's a myth that it makes you hallucinate and go crazy.

Trench coats

From Swagger 360.

The French connection

I was watching the Darjeeling Limited tonight--because I'm sort of obsessed with Wes Anderson movies right now--and I was reminded of this song, which is featured at the end of the movie.

And that song reminded me of this one.

How cool is a 1962 music video, especially one featuring the lovely Françoise Hardy? Anyway, that song reminded me of this movie.

The all-music musical Les Parapluies de Cherbourg.

Laurel Pantin

So I guess this girl is some sort of beauty tip blogger for Teen Vogue.

I just think she's cute.

Such an amazingly warm smile. Perhaps her smile warms up her feet in the snowy pic.

Arcade Fire is playing in Berkeley and I'm not going

Fuck this sucks so much.

To not see on of my all-time favorite bands, because I don't have any damn money is beyond depressing.

I don't want to be like 30-something, and see them play when they're like 40-something, and we're both past our respective primes.

This is frightfully saddening. I feel like I cannot miss this for some reason. I may go try and sell a bunch of random shit to try and get there on Saturday.

Or maybe I can wait, and hope and pray, they play Coachella this year. That would be amazing. Seeing them there would be pretty epic.

Anyway, in tribute to this amazing group here's some Arcade Fire songs.

Neighborhood 1

Wake Up

Crown of Love

Rebellion at Coachella

Amazing right?

ZZZZOOOOMMMFFFFFGGGG!!!!

Remember my Wes Anderson, Hotel Chevalier, post?

Probably not, but if you do there's this great song in the videoss. Anyway, it's called "Where Do You Go to My Lovely?" by Peter Sarstedt, and guess what?

There's freaking live performances!

This is SOOOOOO amazingly awesome on so many different levelz of awesomeness.

In earnest

I wrote this some months ago, but I feel like a lot of it still applies now. This was sort of a candid poem.

My caffeinated consciousness will not let me rest.
I lay and type, and I ponder the decisions that will decide
the horrid immediacy that is everything upcoming.
Even more so I think about no longer laying
like a Lego that is scattered afar from matching pieces.
Why do I no longer pray, and look for answers
that come in the form of an odd shape in my eggs,
or the dirt pattern on my shoe,
or the cup of my morning of coffee?
That coffee... ahh that was heavenly,
and maybe I described it so for a reason.
Or maybe the tangible taste meant more to me than
box top riddles, or tragic happenings
people just assume are meant for the better,
so that they can cope with the crappy conundrums
we call bits of suffering.
Ah please matching Lego pieces where could you be?
Where are the pieces that allow me to connect
to others that are shaped similar in size?

Of course there is the one that is shaped so perfectly,
that my piece will conjoin with it
in a union of stability.
And our pieces will strengthen
our pending project.

Style never dies

True style is forever.

It may not always be fashionable, but it is infinitely more lasting.

Like the '60s version of the Rolling Stones.

Stylish then, and stylish now.

And what the hell would a post devoted to the Rolling Stones be without some music right?

For the girls who follow my blog

Here's something I think you ladies might enjoy.

Actually, I really like this song, but I'm thinking you girls are really going to love it.

If you've never heard it enjoy, and if you have, (which may be likely, it came out two years ago) then let's all enjoy it again.

Slick

This dude--from Swagger 360--makes me want to wear a suit all-day every day.

The definition of cool.

The pic also sort of reminds me of a Wale song. Truthfully--as far as dress goes--it should remind me of a Theophilus London song, but I think Wale's music fits the swagger this dude has, no?

Anyway, I'll post both and you tell me what vibe matches this picture.

Try and not watch the video, because if you do you'll definitely say Theophilus for sure. Hell this dude even looks sort of like Theophilus.

Idk its close.

Polka dots, pumps, and purses

Scott Schuman always finds exceptional.

These ladies look amazing right?

I love the woman in the leopard pumps and the polka dots. And what a cool way to contrast her look, with that very masculine timepiece.

The other ladies hand bag is pretty neato too. Reminds me of "pieces of flair" from Office Space.

Who knew that you could make "pieces of flair" look cool?

From the first CD I ever owned

I was like in 5th or 6th grade when this came out, but The Wallflowers-Bringing Down the Horse, was the first CD I ever wanted, and bought for myself.

This was the single, One Headlight.

I still love this song lol.

Sufjan Stevens

Feeling this new Sufjan Stevens song.

Mellow, melodramatic, melancholy, but I like it.

Maybe that means I need to cheer my ass up?

At least I've got my alliteration down.

What to think

I tried to open a can a few nights ago,
but without the right opener I couldn't do it.
I squeezed and prodded.
Hell I even talked to it.
Tried the opener with the broken handle, and
the electric one with the shitty magnet.
None of them worked.
Who knew a can could become a puzzle?
A labyrinth with no exit?
I read the labels, but still no answers to this test.

Eventually, I just stared and thought...
if only I had the right opener.
One with a good handle,
or an electric one with a working magnet.
Yeah, that would've made it easy.
Now I just sit here hungry
and think
about those with the power to solve riddles.

The Sidecar

I had never had this drink, nor made it before tonight, but goddamn it is pretty good.

Here's the Sidecar.

2 oz Cognac (or Brandy), 1 oz Cointreau, 1/2 oz lemon juice, shake until chilled, garnish with a lemon peel.

Special shout out to Unika, because she's the only person I know who enjoys Cognac/Brandy.

**Quick follow up. Don't drink any of these drinks that I post on an empty stomach. Most of them are pretty damn boozey, and they'll either make you a little more intoxicated than you cared to be, or they'll put you to sleep. The latter is nice if you're looking for a nightcap.

A spacey love song

Great love song.

Cosmic video.

Cosmic great love song video.

Starting the night with some classicsss

If you're looking for some stuff to get your ass in the mood to crank it up, and let the eff loose, then look no further.

Here are some classic jamzzz to get shit started tonight!!!!

Math Head-Turn the Music Up (AC Slater mix).

Steve Aoki, Bloody Beetroots-Warp 1.9. I never get tired of this song ever.

Silvio Ecomo and Chuckie-Moombah (afrojack remix). Major Lazer played Warp and Moombah, back to back, at Coachella and the the crowd just lost their damn minds. It was pretty amaze!

Tonight's pre-game

It's my friend Randy's big b-day bash tonight, and because I can't afford to be drinking at the bar, I'm doin' the pre-game something special.

It'll feature my good friends the Dark N' Stormy, The Moscow Mule, and probably a visit from the Old Fashioned, and perhaps the Martini.

It's going to be fun!

Come by and meet them if you like. I'm sure it'll be a grand ol' time.

Wish me luck

I don't want to work any more damn retail jobs, or after school recreation jobs, or any job that I feel wastes my life.

I WILL not be some old man, 35 years from now, who has watched his life pass him by, while he worked the same job that he despised during all that time.

So tonight--or this morning now (thanks coffee)--I finished another step in getting somewhere in my life.

I've decided that I want to do what Scott Schuman, Guerre, Tommy Ton, Gordon Von Steiner, etc... do, which is photograph all the wonderful people in the world, and how they express themselves through the way they dress.

I just finished sending a pitch letter to the lifestyle producer of SF Gate.com. I don't know how many people visit that site, but I KNOW I can improve the traffic of it with some great street style photos.

Anyway, wish me luck my loyal followers.

Love you guys!

Swagggggg

Ya'll know my favorite shit is street style.

Check out some of these shotz!

The first two are from Guerre's street style blog, Swagger 360.

Boredom, side parts, and pomade

Super bored right now.

Oh well, at least my side part is looking good right?

J/k, I'm really blogging about this, because I'm excited over a new product I started using; not because I'm that into my hair.

This is Sweet Georgia Brown's pomade, and it's pretty slick--literally.

It doesn't really work if you want a matte look, for anything, but it does work amazingly well if you are trying to achieve some serious sheen '50s and '60s style!!!!

iTunes shuffle is a funny feature sometimes

Listening to my iTunes library, on shuffle, and it came up with these four songs in succession. The first two took me all the way back to high school. Ohhhhh man that was awhile back lol.

Don Draper

Because I love Mad Men so much, here's a little photo tribute to Don Draper.

Enjoy.

Melanie Laurent

Was watching a little bit of Inglourious Basterds, and I remembered Melanie Laurent.

I don't even like blondes, but she's super sexy.

She definitely needs to be in more stuff!!!

Can I make it better with the lights turned on?

Stadium style and this weekend's games

So a part of me was just being lazy, but a part of me was also waiting until after tonight's Monday Night Football game, between the 49ers and the Saints, to post about this weekends block of games.

Anyway, the Raiders won, and that made me happy.

We finally benched Jason Campbell, and put in Bruce Gradkowski, and all of a sudden the Raiders looked like they had an offense.

Gradkowski, did an excellent job of anticipating receivers coming open, and delivering balls on time on all the timing routes. He's also much more adept at extending plays from within the pocket. The team seems to respond to him--on both sides of the ball--and he definitely needs to stay the starter.

The 49ers meanwhile, (all of my friends favorite team) played good enough to win, but made too many costly mistakes. Alex Smith looked like a legitimate NFL QB, especially during that two minute drill, but unfortunately the D didn't get it done when it had too. The 49ers did such an excellent job of using different pressure packages to throw off Drew Brees and the Saints O, but when it mattered, seemed to just fall apart.

It's okay though, because it looks like Bay Area football might finally be back on the rise.

Interestingly enough though, I regretted not bringing a camera to the Raiders' game on Sunday, because I missed a grand street style photo.

While I was walking up to the stadium--away from a glorious tailgate--I spotted an a-typically dressed Raider fan. The dude was wearing one of those vintage NWA style Raider jackets, black skinny jeans, a black almost U-neck t-shirt, and a pair of Comme de Garçons Play Converse sneakers. He also had a pretty cool top knot hairstyle, with some Buddy Holly style glasses, and a thick beard. Unfortunately, my lack of a camera will leave this post without a cool image of the dude.

This time tomorrow

This photo made me think of this song.

The photo is from W, and it's of Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall. (Yes it's Rebecca Hall day. The Town was really good, and she was really good in it, plus she's really nice to look at.)

Certainly, it's a stylish photo.

But doesn't this picture perhaps tell a story?

Not many photos, from fashion magazines, actually make you wonder what was happening at the time of the picture, but this one does.

You could write a poem about it, or maybe even a piece of flash fiction.

I'm going to work on that.

But for now, play the song, and imagine what you think is happening in the picture.

Ya' know, besides obviously two really good looking people, dressed nice, sitting together at a diner, and drinking coffee.

Beautiful things Saturday

Watching the beautiful game (soccer/football) on Gol TV, and enjoying a relaxing Saturday afternoon.

Why not share some more beauty?

Here's Freida Pinto murdering a pomegranate.

I love how GQ manages to combine sex appeal, with a sense of humor. Like seriously a pomegranate lol.

Also, fresh from The Town, (great movie btw) here's the lovely Rebecca Hall.

TGIF

Hopefully I get to check out The Town tonight, but we'll see.

And even if I don't, I just enjoyed my favorite cocktail, the Old Fashioned.

Sooo good.

I think I've finally perfected my recipe.

1/2 oz simple syrup, couple dashes Angostora bitters, stir, then add 2 oz bourbon whiskey, stir again, add ice and garnish with a lemon or orange peel. (Personally this comes down to personal preference. The lemon peel was in the original recipe, but a lot of people like the orange peel. I like them both, and switch between the two depending on what I have at my house. Also as an additional garnish you can throw a maraschino cherry on top. No muddled fruit, no soda water.)

Again, sorry for my crappy ass photos lately. I promise one day I'll get another camera.

Shark night

Randomly, tonight became shark night.

It started with my roommate and I watching Jaws, because he had somehow never seen it. My favorite animal is a shark, and it was watching this movie growing up that really got me into them.

Thankfully, my roommate really liked it. He was even surprised that it didn't feel as "dated" as he thought it would.

During Jaws, (and perhaps because of all the drinking Chief Brody, Quint, and Hooper manage to do in the movie) I felt like making a drink, so I mixed up a classic martini. I'm not the biggest martini fan, but I must say it definitely felt right tonight. Perhaps because it was a nice change of pace from a beer, or from anything bourbon related.

The Dry Martini (because you use dry vermouth instead of sweet vermouth... not because you use less of it).
1 1/2 oz of gin, 1/2 oz of dry vermouth, couple dashes orange bitters, garnish with a lemon peel.

After Jaws, we channeled surfed for awhile, watched the latest Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and then remembered we had Ultimate Air Jaws on DVR.

Ummmm, talk about amazing.

Nothing is crazier than watching a 20', one ton, animal hurling itself out of the water, and torpedoing its prey. And to make things even more amazing, was ace nature photographer Chris Fallows, using some camera called the "Phantom." Apparently, it has a frame rate of 1,000 frames a second.

Let's just say shit was beautiful.

Here's one of Chris' picks.

Continuing on with our Wes Anderson theme

I'm too tired to post anything original, but I don't want to not post, because I don't want to disappoint my loyal three followers.

So in light of that last statement, here's Wes Anderson's short-film prequel, to the full-length feature, The Darjeeling Limited, entitled Hotel Chevalier (in two parts).

I have no idea why the subtitles are in Spanish btw.

Part 1

Part 2

Love the song in the movie... so silly.

I don't have a speedo, but I do own a red cap

One of my favorite movies ever is Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

I love the movie's sense of humor, and I love its style.

It also has a bunch of quite simply amazing, David Bowie covers by super talented Brazilian Seu Jorge.

In honor of this movie, I'm wearing my "red cap" tomorrow.

Vibrant and vibing

Check out this girl. Beautiful right? Love her modern-classy look, and where the hell did Scott Schuman find a perfectly matching garage door? Also, it appears that the fro-pomp is really big right now.

Sort of reminds me of Janelle Monáe... and speaking of which, damn that girl can dance!

Can You Discover/Tell?

Discovery is what happens when you combine Ra Ra Riot and Vampire Weekend.

The Discovery album was really good, and I'm surprised it didn't get more hype last year.

Here's Ra Ra Riot's-Can You Tell, given a Discovery electro makeover. Yes those are the same vocals. Wes Miles is the frontman for both.

Discovery - Can You Discover by PopTarts

Why not throw the Can You Tell music video in there too.

No X's and O's just poetry

I was going to blog about how much the Raiders sucked today, but I don't think anybody who follows this blog will enjoy my X's and O's analysis of how the Raiders' breakdown in pass protection led to their eventual undoing. (That may or may not have been a run-on sentence.)

Anyway, instead I'm going to post a Sharon Olds poem. Sharon's poems are really candid. They don't hold much back, and that's what I like about them. They're sometimes awkward, sometimes funny, sometimes erotic, and sometimes a little bit of everything. Usually they're about life, and life's little experiences. Anyway, here's a poem called "Last Night." I'm sure you can figure out what this is about.

Last Night
by Sharon Olds

The next day, I am almost afraid.
Love? It was more like dragonflies
in the sun, 100 degrees at noon,
the ends of their abdomens stuck together, I
close my eyes when I remember. I hardly
knew myself, like something twisting and
twisting out of a chrysalis,
enormous, without language, all
head, all shut eyes, and the humming
like madness, the way they writhe away,
and do not leave, back, back,
away, back. Did I know you? No kiss,
no tenderness---more like killing, death-grip
holding to life, genitals
like violent hands clasped tight
barely moving, more like being closed
in a great jaw and eaten, and the screaming
I groan to remember it, and when we started
to die, then I refuse to remember,
the way a drunkard forgets. After,
you held my hands extremely hard as my
body moved in shudders like the ferry when its
axle is loosed past engagement, you kept me
sealed exactly against you, our hairlines
wet as the arc of a gateway after
a cloudburst, you secured me in your arms till I slept---
that was love, and we woke in the morning
clasped, fragrant, buoyant, that was
the morning after love.

This sucks

So I pretty much destroyed the lenses of my glasses today.

I was pretty freaking bummed.

How ironic is it that I just posted about them, and the very next day they are gone--at least until I can afford new lenses.

Terrible.

I almost feel naked without them.

Violins are badass in bands

This song was a major fav' of last year.

St. Vincent looking cute as always, and what an amazing voice.

I see you violin guy! Violin guy for St. Vincent doin' work!

When I get down in 3D

This is how I roll in 3D, double glasses all day.

I was contemplating wearing my contacts to go see Resident Evil 4 in 3D, but I said fuck it and double dipped on the glasses.

The black frames are a part of me now. I can't separate from them.

(Sorry for the influx of bad quality photos. I broke my roommates camera, and I can't afford to buy my own. Also I have so many pics of myself wearing this t-shirt that it's getting sort of weird. I mean it's not like it's one of those Junk Food fake vintage tees or anything, and I really don't wear it that much, but it sure as hell seems like whenever I get my pic taken I'm wearing the damn thing. WTF?)

Great shoes, great socks, and more...

Von Steiner isn't the only one with a kick ass job who is perusing the scene at Fashion Week.

Of course Scott Schuman and Tommy Ton are also there. (Okay I have to get a job doing this, I even have the alliteration name thingy...Maxwell Mann, it totally works).

Here are some of the coolest looking dudes in NYC this week.

Great shoes, even better socks.

I'm pretty sure this is Luigi Tadini. He's a rich Brazilian dude. And as you would expect from a rich Brazilian dude he always looks cool.

Thom Browne style shrunken proportions.

I don't like you Gordon Von Steiner

Actually Gordon, I'm sure you're a stand up guy. I'm just insanely jealous of your job.

I want it Gordon, you hear me Gordon you asshole, I'm coming for your job. (Again Gordon I'm sorry, I don't mean it...jealousy makes a man crazy.)

Anyway, I took the first step in getting a job similar to Gordon's today. I sent out some query letters offering my services as a street style photographer.

Hopefully all goes well. Wish me luck.

Until then, enjoy that asshole Gordon Von Steiner's collection of the cutest girls at Fashion Week NYC.

Alexa Chung is way cute btw. Sucks for her that her show got cancelled. However, I didn't go out of my way to help her cause. I never watched a whole episode, but she was very witty. Maybe it failed, because the name of the show sucked. "It's On with Alexa Chung" doesn't exactly make me want to run to my TV. It is good for coming up with all kinds of ridiculous innuendos for it indeed being "on" with Alexa Chung though. I'll let you come up with those on your own.

Oh and Resident Evil tonight in 3D!!! B grade action/horror films, plus 3D, equals a definite win.

In case you didn't know the NFL is back

So tonight the NFL "kicked off" its season, with what was honestly not a very good game.

Brett Favre looked... well like he skipped all training camp. No timing, no chemistry, really he didn't even look confident during the entire game. In fact, I sort of expected him to quit at half time. Just kidding, Brett's a warrior, he deserves better than that.

I'm sure by Sunday I'll flood this blog with a ton of ridiculous football-nerd jargon, especially regarding my Raiders, but tonight I have to ask you all a question.

What do you stylish folks think of the massive amount of football fans wearing their team's jerseys?

Every Sunday, in bars, at house parties, and in stadiums you'll find a whole hell of a lot of people sporting the jersey of their favorite team/player. I'd have to say like 60% of all fans at a stadium wear jerseys. Almost none of which are people I would consider to be stylish or fashionable.

Most of them are wearing stuff they think is cool, or that they're supposed to wear. I doubt that any of them are actually wearing anything that they feel truly expresses themselves as a person.

Of course the the argument could be made that wearing a jersey is indeed expressing something about you. It could be said that wearing your team's jersey expresses your support for your team. But you could also say, "Isn't that what cheering is for?"

I'm not sure about the answer to that question just yet, but I--being the extreme lover of football that I am--am not going to criticize any fellow fan wearing a jersey on Sunday. Actually, I love that fans are so passionate about their teams. And that they feel like they have to support them by wearing the team's uniform. It's may seem silly, but in a way its sort of noble.

Which leads me to this: can you make a jersey stylish or fashionable?

My initial gut instinct? No.

However, I've been giving it a lot of thought lately, and maybe there are some ways in which you can make a jersey look like you are wearing it, and not like it is wearing you.

Or even just that you care more about personal style than the average football fan.

What do you guys think? Any ideas? (By the way, in case you were wondering, I do own a jersey. It's a vintage 1987 Bo Jackson Raiders jersey that my dad got me some years ago for a Christmas gift.)

Crazzzeee!!!

Willow Smith (yes it's 'Big Willy Style's' daughter) is like 9, and her single is way better than Rihanna's new jam.

It's pretty freaking insane.

Let's just make it a '90s night

Ummm one of my all-time favorite Air Jordan's ever is re-releasing.

The Air Jordan VII "bordeaux."

I love these, because unlike every other Jordan, they almost don't match. They're sort of all over the place with the colors, and it gives them a sort of dark organic quality that other models/colorways don't have.

They drop next year sometime, and hellzz yes I'm going to try and get a pair.

Also in honor of the Air Jordan VII, and the '92 NBA Finals..."The Shrug."

Some '90s R&B for that ass

Forever winning.

"I thought I told you that we won't stop. I thought I told you that we won't stop. Eh eh, eh eh!"

For my girls

So today was my nieces first day of kindergarten.

I'm not even one of their parents, but I won't lie they were SOOO cute in their little uniforms I almost got teary eyed. They grew up so fast, and it got me thinking about my own kids one day.

Not that I want kids or anything, just that one of these days--wwwaaaaayyyyy in the future--I'm going to be an old guy taking his kids to school and thinking about songs like this.

More Milla

How many of you knew Milla Jovovich could sing?

She cut an album (entitled The Divine Comedy) way back in '94, and it's pretty good too. Chances are if you like Fever Ray, you'll like the album. "The Alien Song" is especially cool; you'll definitely be reminded of Fever Ray's "When I Grow Up."

Or maybe I should say "When I Grow Up" will remind you of "The Alien Song."

Milla Jovovich-The Alien Song

Fever Ray-When I Grow Up

A.P.C. Anyone?

Anybody want to go to Paris, and blow a bunch of cash on some A.P.C. gear?

Actually, they have stores in America in like LA and NY. And they have a cool online store.

If you're not familiar with A.P.C., they're famous for their raw selvedge denim, but they also make some other pretty cool stuff. And considering the price of so called "quality" denim nowadays, the $165 price tag for A.P.C.'s is pretty reasonable.

Their other pieces are sort of an amalgam of American Apparel, Abercrombie and Fitch, and J Crew. If this sounds like a definite fail, just remember its all done with that trademark French chicness.

So let's head to A.P.C. shall we?

And speaking of stoner rap

I don't know if stoner rap is the correct term, but it seems like a fit.

Kid Cudi's new jam is pretty cool as well. Sort of reminds me of an Offspring song from like twelve years ago, if somebody in Offspring could rap.

Kid Cudi - Erase Me f Kanye West by shinga

Remember Shwayze?

Yeah, the dudes who did that catchy ass jam Corona and Lime, a year or two back. (The DJ in the video is my old homie from college Trevor McFedries aka DJ Skeet Skeet).

Well Aaron Smith, the rapper in the group is doing is own little solo project and its pretty dope.

Go to this link to download the mix-tape.

Zooey Deschanel is really really cute and she sings funny songzzz

We can all agree that Zooey Deschanel is the cutest right? Right! Okay now that we got that out of the way, she was in "I Love You Man," with Jim Carrey, which was pretty mediocre.

However, some amazingness did come out of that movie, and it's in the form of these insanely witty songs by her band in the movie Munchausen by Proxy.

Watch, enjoy, and laugh a lot.

The intro video, embedding was disabled for this one.

Also why does Zooey look like Katy Perry's sister. When does the Katy Perry biopic starring Zooey Deschanel, come out?

Ohh and her actual band She and Him, is pretty cool as well.

Gotta find the queen of all my dreams

Ramble on!!!

I was listening to Led Zeppelin-Ramble On, and I totally didn't notice that there was a Lord of the Rings reference until now.

"Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air.
T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her....yeah. "

That motherfucker Gollum always be messin' shit up!

And because nobody wants to end a post looking at Smeagol--and also because the song's about an enchanting queen--here's the beautiful Milla Jovovich.

Our 'Mad Men' relationships

Mad Men was excellent tonight. I'm not going to spoil it for anybody, or say anything to ruin the show for people who haven't seen it, but it was an emotionally charged episode.

The show has always been about, and revolved around, great characters. Tonight we got to see two of our central protagonists, connect on a level that they hadn't previously.

Tonight, is why I like TV. Not all shows, will take you all the way into its character's lives, but Mad Men always has. TV, better than movies, is more able to allow a viewer to get to know a story's central characters, and often times I think it makes TV characters more relatable. We see them in their daily routine, we see them try to live with the impact of their daily decisions, and we see the ultimate effect that life's realities have on them. And of course we all experience something along those lines every day.

For those of us who follow Mad Men, I think this episode contained a lot of relatable material. A lot of dark themes ran throughout, but I think what will stay with people was the parting shot, and realizing why we need the people in our lives. Why we cherish the relationships.
